A DOCUMENTARY SERIES

Navigating the Apocalypse

A documentary series about how we live with artificial intelligence.

THE SERIES

The honest response to this moment is not a verdict.

Everyone can feel that artificial intelligence is changing everything, and almost no one has a trusted place to think about it out loud. This series is that place. We ask the leading AI systems the questions the era is actually posing. We ask the public the same questions. Then we put both in front of a table of people who know things and will argue with what came back.

It is a conversation held in public, on the record, with the evidence on the table.

The Three-Part Promise

01. We ask the machines directly.

Direct Inquiry

The episode's questions go to the leading AI systems, screen recorded on clean accounts, unedited in substance. Every answer we show carries the system name and the date it was given.

02. We ask people.

Public Polling

The same questions go to a human poll through the Austin Forum and the readership of the Substack. The number that results is shown with its sample size and its source, every time.

03. We put both in front of a table that will argue.

Expert Debate

Panel and room, live, on camera. The machines do not get the last word, and neither do we.

We have Paleolithic emotions, medieval institutions, and godlike technology.

IN PRODUCTION

Episode 01. The rate of change.

The pilot takes on the rate of change and the stakes of the era we are already in. Post completes before October 1, 2026.

THE SERIES

How an episode is built.

THE METHOD

Cold open.

Every episode runs the same shape. The topic we set for the table is what sends the cameras out into the world, so the topic is decided before anything is filmed.

A short, punchy summary of what the episode is about. It ends on the show's line and cuts to titles.

Block A. Hope.

Out in the world. What is already working, and the people doing it.

Block B. The problem.

Out in the world. Whatever that episode's problem actually is, held in the same frame as the hope so neither reads as propaganda.

Block C. What is at stake.

In studio, at the round table. The machine answers and the human numbers play here and get argued over.

Block D. What can be done.

Same table, same night. Whether anything can be done, and whether the honest answer is mostly the conversation itself.

The close.

The invitation. The discussion continues on the Substack and here.
